Bit by a dead bee

The latest episode of breaking Bad takes place with Jesse and Walt barying a gun they had taken from the scene of Tuco's death when they were fighting him for their lives. We see them start walking down the road waiting to get picked up by hitch hikers. Walt hitch hikes to a small convenience store where he gets naked to cover up the lie that he had some kind of mental amnesia episode when in actuality he had escaped the desert hide of Tuco minutes before hank killed him while looking for Walt. In the hospital the doctors are worried about this supposed episode of Walt's while with Jesse the police are suspicious of his activities being that his car was found at the scene of the crime. Jesse clears out the meth lab in his basement and then goes to a hotel intending to get caught so that he can have them grill him and appear to be innocent. Walt is finding himself having to say one lie after another to cover his tracks finally the doctors unable to find anything abnormal have him admitted to a therapist to talk to and such. Walt realizes that the doctors have every intention of keeping him until they can find out what's wrong so he supposedly admits to the therapist under doctor patient confidentiality that he's perfectly fine and rememebers everything and that he just had to get out of the house. With Jesse, Hank is b rought into to interrogate him and they even go as far as to get Tuco's old uncle who can no longer speak to try and finger Jesse as being at the scene but because Hank killed the old man's nephew he won't help them and defecates in his wheel chair. Finally Jesse is let go and calls Walt to let him know that everything went ok except that the police now have his $68,000 that was in his supposedly stolen car. Walt, nervous sneaks home to check on his money which is all right where he left it. He ends up hiding it again and sneaking back to the hospital where he is released the next day. When he gets home Skyler seems distant and before falling asleep in bed asks him if he has a second phone which he says he doesn't remember anything about. He goes to kiss her goodnight to which she turns away and goes to sleep.

The major theme with this episode is that Walt is having to tell one lie after another to cover up his initial actions. We see this begin to really stress him out and affect those around him. I think at this point we are really starting to see that while his lies are becoming more and more elaborate his wife and some of his family are not fully believing him.

Proverbs 19:22 speaks specifically to this issue when it says "It's better to be poor than a liar." God looks at lying as equal a sin as any other. God sees all sin as equal and therefore there will be consequences for such actions and likely his consequences will be self administered. We can only hope that it is not too late for Walt to change his behavior.

Se2 Ep1 Seven Thirty Seven

   The episode opens up with fire truck sirens in the background while the camera pans across a pool where we see and eye get sucked into the pool cleaning system. We find out that the eye belongs to a stuffed bear half burned at the bottom of the pool. The episode then goes to pick up where last season left off with Tuco beating up his right hand man. As Walt and Jesse are leaving the junkyard Tuco stops them and tries to have them help the guy he just beat up as he has now gone into a seizure. The guy ends up dying and Tuco's other right hand man ends up dumping the body and they all leave the scene... Walt and Jesse are severely shaken up by this event and begin to doubt whether doing business with Tuco was such a good idea. After he gets home Skyler sees that he's in shock. Walt then tries to have sex with Skyler of which she tells him to step and tells him that he may be upset by the whole cancer thing but that he can't take it out on her. We then see it cut to Walt and Jesse who are talking about how Tuco is likely going to kill them and that they need to figure out a way to kill him first. They began by ruling out the plan of just shooting him and some of his boys. The episode then cuts to Skyler's sister who makes plans to go to dinner with them that night when Hank reminds her that she has therapy scheduled around that time. She adamantly denies it then runs over the neighbor kid's remote control car. The next night Walt comes home to see that someone is is surveying his house and believes it's one of Tuco's men.The next day he talks to Jesse about how they will turn beans into Ricen to poison Tuco.
   Hank then goes by Walt's house to talk to Skyler about her ignoring her sister to which Skyler has an emotional breakdown. Later Hank is talking to Walt about the discussion at a crime scene which turns out to be the big guy going back for Tuco's right hand man of which Hanks sends Walt the pictures. The big guy is dead and they believe it was Tuco who killed him of which Jesse and Walt are freaking out. Later it turns out to be that the big guy came back for the body and while trying to move it had the pile of cars the body was under shift of which he got injured and bled out. Walt is freaking out and ready to skip town when he gets a text from Jesse who is parked in front of Walt's house. Walt goes out and asks him why he is there only to have Tuco pop up in the back seat and tell him to get in.

Here we see themes here that being in a life of crime and sin only leads to further worse things and that Walt making meth has only been something that has escalated him down a bad road. We see his moral character begin to deteriorate as he has less and less qualms about doing wrong things. The further he goes into this lifestyle the more he seems to shut his family out of his life. His lies have escalated and such to the point of where it would appear that Skyler has begun to suspect something is wrong.

The Bible says in Luke 12:2, “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.” We begin to see Walt's actions are creating more and more chaos around him and that it will not be long before everything crumbles and he is found out.

Breaking Bad: No Rough Stuff Type Of Deal

The episode opens with Walter and Skyler at a school meeting where the staff is addressing the problem of the missing chemistry equipment and how they plan to leave no stone unturned. While there Walter and his wife begin to act inappropriately while no one notices. After the meeting we see them having sex in the car. When asked why the sex was so good Walter says that it was because it was illegal (being that it kind of in public.) We then see a real estate agent showing a young couple around Jesse's house as Jesse is trying to sell it. We see Walt go into the mobile home to check on Jesse and let him know that the deal went through and that he has an added 15,000 for his troubles. Jesse is upset by the fact that Walt set up the agreement without talking to him and lets him know it can be difficult to come up with extra supplies to make the Meth. We see them at the next  drug deal coming up short on the two pounds of meth. Walt tells Tuco (their supplier) that they will have 4 pounds next week. Later with Jesse he explains that they will use one chemical instead of another to make the meth which should make it easier but some of the items they will need to buy may be hard to come by. We then see the family all enjoying unborn baby Holly's baby shower. Outside afterwards Hank and Walt are enjoying a glass of hard liquor and cuban cigars. They talk about breaking the law and how it is a crazy thing to think about. Walt and Jesse run into a problem with getting all the supplies and figure that they can steal one of the extra chemicals for the meth at a compound south of town.
   Later at a Jewellery store Skyler goes to return an expensive Tiara her sister bought for her baby at the baby shower when she is held by the store because the item was reported stolen. Skyler manages to get out and call her sister. Walt and Jesse are able to get the chemical but in a larger quantity then they had originally planned. But when they go to try to make the meth when the motor home breaks down and they end up having to make it in the basement of Jesse's house. While there an open house is taking place above which Jesse has to go kick people out. At a store Skyler finally meets up with her sister and confronts her about the stolen jewellery to which her sister denies knowing anything about. In the end we see Walt able to provide the four pounds and when ending the deal with Tuco one of Tuco's men makes a statement that sets him (Tuco) off causing him to beat the guy senseless. We then see Walt and Jesse walk away with the bag of cash.

I think this episode really looks at the ethics of right and wrong and how far is too far if you're doing something for family. Throughout the episode we see people breaking small laws left and right with Walt and Skyler acting inappropriately in the school meeting amongst themselves and then having sex in the car afterwards, Hank giving Walt a Cuban cigar which are apart trade embargo of Cuba and Illegal in the U.S. to Skyler's sister stealing the expensive baby tiara for her the baby shower. we see people either doing these actions for thrill, because it's something that can be overlooked or because they want to deny it. Ultimately we see a lot of the individuals making concessions in what they deem acceptable behavior.

Romans 13:1-7 tells us that we are to obey the laws of the land and to be obedient to the governing authorities. If we are not the scripture tells us that we should be afraid because the sword is not carried in vain. This right here tells us that we are to be obedient to the laws placed over us by our governing authorities and that if we break those laws to be ready for the consequences. The Bible also tells us in Galatians 6:7-8 "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life." Basically we will have consequences for our actions.

Breaking Bad Episode 7

Well this will be a really short synopsis being that the blog completely lost my previously well thought out post.

Basically Walt is dealing with the his family and chemotherapy and how it is taking a toll on him all the while dealing with trying to make decent money cooking and selling meth. He decides with Jesse that he will do the cooking and Jesse will do the "slinging". At the same time Hank is closing in on the operation discovering that the gas mask they found was originally from Walt's old work. Ultimately Hank ends up suspecting Hugo the school janitor who is innocent. Walt discusses with Jesse the possibility of selling the meth a major distributor as Walt comes to realize that their current selling methods is making really low income. Jesse tries to talk to the distributor only to get attacked and sent to the hospital. Walt goes in a few days later and gets his money after finding out what happened to Jesse. We see him use explosives to threaten them to get the money they owe him.

we see Walt dealing with the ethics of whether the ends justify the means. He struggles with trying to make money to support his family when other people are getting hurt. His whole rule is that nobody gets hurt. We see him trying to do the best he can.

Breaking Bad 6: Gray Matter

   This episode begins by following following Jesse as he goes for a job interview for a salesman position only to learn that the job is in fact actually for sign holding position. When he leaves the place the sign holder runs up to him and the two converse over a joint when the guy in the costume holding the sign asks Jesse if he has any more Meth on him he could sell. Jesse explains that He's not in the business anymore and that he's considering retiring. We meet up with Walt and Skyler as they are on their way to a birthday party. At the party they come as the only two not dressed in the same color as everybody else causing them to stick out. At this party people were asked not to bring gifts but do anyways, including Walt and Skyler. Walt has a small package that he is embarrassed to give except that one of the maids comes and takes it from Walt. Back at Jesse's house we see his friend arrive with a suspicious looking bad which happens to have snacks and means to cook up more Meth.
   Back at the party Walt finally has his gift given to his friend who deccides that he loves it alot because of the memories behind it. While there the friend and Walt are rememebering good times when the friend offers Walt a job working for him at his high end job. He explains that the insurance would be great and would cover the medical bills. Walt is then seen leaving the house with Skyler upset that she told their friend about his cancer. Jesse and his friend are in the midle of the desert cooking up meth. When Jesse decides that the latest batches are not good enough he throws them out the door to the shock and anger of his friend. The two get into fight and it ends with the friend being pushed out of the motorhome while Jesse drives away. Walt jr. is picked up by a cop off duty for trying to get him to buy alcohal for his friends and him. His uncle shows up to take him home. Later at home the next day Skyler has an intervention for Walt with the whole family. She brings up all of the reasons why Walt has to get treatment and how his deciding not to is hurting her and their son. Finally after most of the family has talked Skyler's sister says that she believes that Walt should be able to make the decision himself. After an arguement over her saying that Walt talks and explains why he doesn't want to take the treatment. How He feels it will make him too miserable to enjoy the rest of his short life with his family. The next day, he wakes up tells Skyler he's changed his mind and then goes to his treatment with his wife and son. Later we see him pull up infront of Jesse's house and get a phonecall from his friend's wife who asks him to get the treatment and that if he comes to work with her husband the insurance will cover him. He turns her down to which she asks him if it has anything to do with her revealing that the two may have had a romantic past. He says no and lies about how his insurance has come through. He then gets out of the car and asks Jesse if he would like to cook some more meth.

    Here we see the struggle of someone looking to have a choice in his life. He doesn't want to constantly be told how to live, or in this case, even to live. He wants to have the option of saying yes or no to treatement. His reasons for why he would want to say no are simple. He doesn't want to suffer and not enjoy the rest of the time he would have with his family. We can see that he looks like his tension has been released by just explaining that he wants to have a choice.

   We can look at this and be grateful that God has given us a free will. God loved us enough that we have the ability to make our own choices, good or bad. Revelation 3:20 talks about how He's knocking on our door but that it is our decision whether we are going to let Him in. It is because we have this choice that our relationship with God is so special, because we choose Him too.

Breaking Bad 4: Cancer and explosions

   This episode of Breaking Bad was a bit more tame then the others so far. We begin by seeing Jesse hanging with some friends when the ask to get a hold of some of his Meth. He turns them down and then ends up smoking some himself the next morning. The stuff makes him so paranoid he hallucinates that two Mormons on bikes are two hardcore Bikers on motorcycles with a machete and a grenade. He then takes off for his family's home. With Walt, his family finally knows that he has lung cancer and are upset that he didn't tell them sooner. His wife is very upset and is persistent and pushy in him getting a second opinion and treatment, no matter the cost. His son is upset that he has been acting weird and seems to have been acting apathetic to things.
   At his family's house Jesse's parents are having a hard time with his coming back and are trying to acclimate to it. His younger brother is the good child and is an over achiever in the functions he does with his school and such. Jesse is seen as the troubled one. While at his house he gets a major offer from a friend to get a lot of money for a new supply of meth. He goes and makes the proposition to Walt who turns him down.
   We see throughout the episode Walt dealing with some money, trying to fish it out of the vents and putting it in the bank. At the bank he sees an arrogant man who steals his parking spot and makes objectifying remarks towards the teller in the bank. Later at the end of the episode Walt sees the man at the Gas station and proceeds to short his battery and blow the man's car up.

   In this episode the one thing I saw was family caring for one another. His family is visibly upset by the diagnoses and that he didn't tell them earlier that he was sick. Walt's brother in-law even approaches him and lets him know that if anything happens he will take care of Skyler and Walt Jr. We see that even though he's apathetic to it his family rallies around him.

  I think as the Body of Christ we are to rally around one another and be there for them. I think now with my car stolen and the stress that comes with that I understand what it means now more than ever to have people rally around you or even how much at times you wish people would and don't. I think sometimes we really need to be able to show compassion, caring, and love for those going through the valleys. How are you lifting someone up today?

Breaking Bad 3

   In this episode of breaking bad we begin by watching Walter and Jesse cleaning up the gory mess that fell through the ceiling from the bath tub in the bathroom above. We can see that they are both easily disgusted at having to clean up the drug dealers dissolved remains. With Skyler and Walter Jr. we first see them in this episode painting the baby nursery while Skyler's sister just sits by and watches as they work. After Walter Jr. leaves the room to answer a phone call Skyler starts talking to her sister about a short story she's writing that involves a marijuana user and asks her sister about her experience with the drug. Her sister automatically assumes that she is inadvertently talking about Walter Jr. and even though Skyler is adamant that it isn't her sister is still convinced. We then cut back to Walter who is faced by the locked up drug dealer in the basement with the dilemma of either letting him go or killing him. We then cut back to Skyler's sister who over the phone at a shoe store (where she ends up stealing a pair) calling her husband, the DEA agent, and asking him to scare Walter Jr. Straight.
   Walter senior then finds out that Jesse told the drug dealer everything about him, his family, his profession and etc... He's upset and ends up having a yelling match with Jess which ends up with the younger of the two leaving and telling him to finish the job with their captive downstairs. We then cutback to Walter Jr. and the DEA Brother in law going on a little drive which leads them to a druggy motel where Walter Jr. gets the talk about Marijuana being a gateway drug to worse things. After a long and awkward interaction we see the prostitute that they were using as an example go back to her room just to find that Jesse is holding up in that same room. At Jesse's house Walter makes the "Crazy Eight" a sandwich without the crust and brings it down to him just to pass out, smash the plate and have to make another. While down there he talks to Crazy Eight about letting him go and tells him that he's going to be there until he can give Walter a good reason to unlock him. Walter even goes so far as to write a pro's and con's list about letting him go. In the end we find that right when Walter was ready to let him go and is in the process of getting the key he finds out that one of the sharp jagged pieces of the plate is missing which he realizes Crazy Eight has for the purpose of killing Walter the moment he is free. Walter goes down to the basement where he pretends he's going to unlock him but only ends up killing him as Figure Eight struggles to fight back but ultimately dies. In the very end of the episode we see Walter go back home to talk to his wife. As she's sitting on the side of the bed we hear him say, "honey, I need to tell you something" before the screen fades to black.
   What we can see here is the struggle between right and wrong. While I could easily say the major theme of this episode is the value of human life I think it's important to understand Walter's basic struggle between making the right and wrong choice. So often we are presented with situations and problems where we have two options and can go one of two ways. Sometimes one direction can be the right one and the other wrong/immoral/unethical. We may not always have the easiest time making the decision but if we are always relying on God He will not let us have to make it on our own.
    Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding, Seek His will in all you do and He will guide your paths." As long as we trust in God He will guide our paths. What decisions do you need to trust God with today?
